EMDR Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they no longer carry the same emotional weight.
EMDR was originally developed for PTSD, but research has since shown it to be effective for a range of conditions where distressing memories play a role — including anxiety, depression, and grief. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR doesn’t require you to describe a traumatic event in exhaustive detail to get relief.
Our clinicians are trained in EMDR and integrate it thoughtfully into your broader treatment plan, whether you’re in our PHP or IOP program. Sessions follow a structured protocol designed to help your brain reprocess difficult memories so they feel less overwhelming and less present in day-to-day life.
If talk therapy alone hasn’t fully addressed the impact of past experiences, EMDR may be the missing piece. Our team can help you determine if it’s the right fit for your treatment.
Signs You May Need Treatment
- Distressing memories that still feel emotionally ‘stuck’
- Trauma symptoms that haven’t fully responded to talk therapy alone
- Strong emotional or physical reactions triggered by reminders of past events
- Difficulty putting distressing experiences into words
- A desire for a structured, time-limited approach to trauma
Our Approach to Treatment
Bilateral Stimulation
Guided eye movements or other bilateral stimulation help the brain process traumatic memories in a way that reduces their emotional intensity.
Structured 8-Phase Protocol
EMDR follows a well-defined protocol, from history-taking through reprocessing and closure, so you always know where you are in the process.
Integrated with Other Therapies
EMDR is offered alongside CBT, individual therapy, and psychiatric care as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
Paced to Your Readiness
Your clinician builds coping skills and stability with you before processing begins, ensuring the work feels manageable.
